Flying or Falling

by Cami Park

One day, unconvinced of the best intentions
of physics, you leave the earth.
The first thing you notice is what is rendered
moot, like feet,
and of the five senses,
balance, the constant compromise
between a policy of science and a lawless mind.

Then, you notice the view. At this distance
everything looks well-planned,
pristine. You wonder what damage
a penny might do.

Cami Park does most of her writing at a desk, some of it in bed, but none of it, ever, at the kitchen table. The results can be found in publications such as Smokelong Quarterly; Forklift, Ohio; Opium Magazine; No Tell Motel; FRiGG Magazine; Juked; elimae; and GUD Magazine.
