Editor's Note

Thanks again for contributing to another great issue! Our featured artist is Baltimore photographer Michael Northrup. You may know his work from the Baltimore City Paper and other regional magazines. I find Michael's use of light and color amazing, and we're proud to showcase a few of his favorite summer shots. We're also really honored to have Richard Peabody supplying us with his five favorite multimedia pieces in this issue's High Five. If you're a writer living in the MD/DC/VA corridor and don't know Richard Peabody, you should. In addititon to his work on Gargoyle, Richard has edited numerous anthologies over the years, taught workshops out of his home in Virginia, is a stay-at-home dad, and is on the faculty of the Johns Hopkins Writing Seminars.

We're still hot at work on the JMWW Anthology Volume Two, coming out later this year. In an effort to make it bigger, better than last, we're also considering work submitted for the Fall 07 online issue. So here's another chance (your last) to get between our sheets. Well, that and a pricey cocktail. We adore mango martinis in the summer

Finally, I am pleased to welcome Joshua Conklin to our staff as an associate poetry editor. We are eager to expand our poetry section, so send us your best stuff. We are also interested in reviewing your chapbooks and poetry collections (in addition to fiction) now that poet and publisher extraodrinare Adam Robinson is pitching in with reviews. There couldn't be a better time to submit your work to us, folks. We are operating a full-service salon here, so to speak. Just as we are ready for the funnel cakes and festivals and frosty beers of summer, we're ready for you.

Please allow this issue of stories, flash, and poetry to quench your thirst. Oh, and allow me to pitch myself. Check out my collection of short fiction, Close Encounters, over at the super-amazing So New Media.
